LAT – an alternative free alternative

LAT offers a free guest room & work space for visiting creators in Gothenburg. Based on the results of their full scale architectural and social experiments within the Project 1:1 (PDF / Swedish), creative collective LAT has built their own version of a joint work/living space at Lindholmen in Gothenburg. The space contains 4 small sleeping quarters, a big collective workspace, kitchen & dining area, a music studio and an equipped work shop in the basement. LAT is located at Lindholmen on Hisingen Island in Gothenburg. The centre is a 10 min bus ride or 5 min ferry ride away.

The Kitchen. Torsten, one of the regular residents, is a great chef. “It’s all about using fresh ingredients”.

Sound proof sleeping quarters, each with inlets for fresh air. The main idea is keeping the sleeping quarters small in order to get more common space.

Equipped work shop in the basement. There are plans to replace the doors with glass in order to turn half the space into a gallery.

Vacation ideas #3. It’s a bit cheesy, but isn’t that what Christmas is all about post-Coke-Santa? Christmas at amusement park Liseberg has become one of Gothenburg’s prime tourist attractions. But then again, who can resist the beauty of over 2 million lights covering trees and buildings?

With this December vacation idea we also want to wish everyone Happy Holidays!

Vacation ideas #2. If you are a creative in need of free accommodation your might also need some tips where to eat in down town Gothenburg without spending a fortune. Located in the classic old market hall Saluhallen you’ll find Kåges Hörna serving up delicious bargain meals – traditional Swedish everyday food, pasta salads and loads of light fish dishes for around 50 SEK. During lunch hours you always have to wait to get a seat, but it’s well worth the wait. Click here for a map to the cheap food temple.
