Designer Artur Moustafa is co-founder of Swedish furniture manufacturer Vujj but has recently focused on sustainability issues with his new company Able Global Solutions trying to gap the void between creatives and the eco-tech innovation sector. Artur stayed at the Creators Inn by Elvine lab while in Gothenburg to present at Pecha Kucha GBG vol. #10 at club Nefertiti.
You are trying to gap the void between creatives and the eco-tech innovation sector. How are you going about that and what do hope to gain as a result? We want eco-tekkies to see the benefits of teaming up with the creative sectors so that they can reach out to existing and emerging markets and compete with the same means as current flush and forget paradigm driven actors do. What we foresee as the outcome of this is
a) Designers and creatives with ‘green-competence’ prepared for an entire world in desperate need of transformation and
b) Eco-tech innovators being just as able at communicating their story and thus becoming capABLE of replacing bad consumption pattern driven goods and services.
This clash of sectors is something we are facilitating through smart win win solutions where creatives can see that they make a difference in the world by using smart solutions, by creatives, to communicate the values and ideas of the innovators. Thats what creatives do, they get inside the minds of people and design products, services and stories around objects that works as an appealing interface between the product and the user/buyer.
As a designer and sustainability expert, what are your thoughts about Creators Inn by Elvine from a sustainability perspective? How can it be improved? Creators Inn is a great idea from my point of view, it is an experience and a service where nothing new needs to be produced and it goes hand in hand with concepts such as the shared washing facilities in a condominium, and clothes for rent etc. There should be a creators eco-car as well as a creators wardrobe and so on in every city!
Any closing thoughts?
Love this world, when you love something you want to make sure it is at its best. And everything becomes interesting and filled with joy. Its not a hassle to live in a non impact kind of way. Its an exploration, and the answer is within us and between us. Its like going to mars but cooler.
