French artist Audrey Fondecave Tsujimura (FR/JPN) is based in Tokyo but decided to take a trip around Europe with her daughter Liliyo. During their stay at Creators Inn in Gothenburg they manage to visit their brother who studies architecture at Chalmers, record a radio show with Mattias Nilsson from Kning Disk and José Gonzales, experience The Gothenburg String Theory project, visit the cultural building Röda Sten and brilliantly illustrate a Swedish midsummer dinner, among other things.
Audrey Fondecave Tsujimura is an impressive name. How would you describe yourself for someone that have never met you?
Is it? Isn’t it just too long? My name shows that I’m a mix of cultures, I’m French with Spanish roots and I live in Tokyo since 2002 where I work as an editor and fashion and art consultant for OK FRED magazine. I also work on my own art, doing exhibitions, books and collaborations.
What is creativity for you?
Self-utility’s side effect.
What was your reason for visiting Gothenburg, and what did you do during your time here? Anything you would like to recommend to future guests?
I’ve been working with Swedish creators, and I’ve been curious about Swedish creation, so I decided to do the trip to Stockholm and Gothenburg to see by myself. While in Gothenburg I recorded a radio show with Jose Gonzales and Mattias Nilsson from Kning Disk. I discovered this wonderful project called the Goteburg String Theory Project, and I also visited Röda Sten. I wish I had enough time to go to some farther islands.
You were the first to bring a child to Creators Inn. How did you and your daughter experience your stay at Creators Inn @ LAT?
She loved it. She loved the capsule bedroom, which quickly became “Her room”, she was pretty surprised by the fact that it was located in a working studio. She also enjoyed taking boats to go there.
What are your plans for the future?
Right now I’m in Paris, doing some other recordings for Radio OK FRED, also some fashion shootings for the next issue of OK FRED which should be out this autumn, with a big change. And I have been meeting some French galleries for some future exhibitions. In July will take place Zine’s mate the first art books fair in Tokyo, La Galerie Des Nakamura will be presenting a catalog of my work at this occasion, and OK FRED will be launching a new book done in collaboration with writer Egaitsu Hiroshi.
