Rikard Jönsson (SE) is a DJ, artist, Pecha Kucha Ambassador (for the city of Malmö) and also a Product Development Coordinator at Spotify. He stayed at Creators Inn @ LAT while in Gothenburg to give a 6 minutes and 40 second long speech at Pecha Kucha GBG.

Do you consider yourself creative and if so, in what way?
For me, a spoiled young man from the northern part of europe, creativity and joy goes hand in hand. Since I do consider myself a very happy and confident person – I believe I can have a greater potential in unleashing my creativity. I have also yet again been reminded of how much more fun creativity is when your are more than one person, holism is really beautiful. Oh, and in what way? Well, my main area of interest is music and, for the moment, how to enhance a performance by implementing solutions that hopefully have not been done before. It’s not the means itself but rather to make an impression that last for both me and the audience that’s interesting. Until now I have been within many classical areas of culture but I tend to always come back to auditive creations.

What was your reason for coming to Gothenburg?
My main reason was to give a speech at Pecha Kucha about one of my many passions, music. I was hoping that I could find some more people with the same interest in creating music in the same or any other way, we’ll see what happens with the people who contacted me afterwards.

Rikard presents at Pecha Kucha GBG at night club Park Lane.

Tell us about your experience staying at Creators Inn @ LAT?
I had a great time! Mostly because of the atmosphere around LAT: people are friendly, it’s close to the city but still far enough away to escape all the noise, and with nice vegetarian sushi just across the street. Did I mention the fantastic view from just outside the door?

You presented about analog influence on digital music making at Pecha Kucha GBG. Why do you find this subject so interesting?
As I mentioned earlier is it an eternal quest for finding new way to express creations. Maybe I’m just hunting a chimera but it doesn´t matter as long as I have fun along the way. Hopefully I will find the persons that I’m looking for sooner or later to create the show I want to make. One of my projects at the moment is how to sync sound, light and video from the same computer when performing.

What are your plans for the future?
Except for continuing my work at Spotify I have some other interesting things coming up! Gothenburg happend to be a pit stop during one of my many trips through Sweden this summer. I just got back from DJ:ing at the Peace & Love Festival and Arvikafestivalen, and this saturday I’m playing at Hultsfredsfestivalen.

Rikard’s live setup as Åbäke: Alesis Air FX, Alto S6, MacBook with Ableton live, Behringer Sonic Exciter, Edirol FA66, M-Audio Axiom 25 & Evolution UC33E

Later this year I’m going to Japan and next year Los Angeles and San Fransisco is on the map for some gigs! I’m always up for new challenges and if you want to give me one, hook up for coffee or maybe play some music with me – just contact me by phone on +46 733 94 13 12 and by mail on rikard (at) kaospilot.se.

Anything else you want to add?
Yes, check out this old Pecha Kucha speech I did in Stockholm this winter. And If you wanna know what kind of tunes (lots of tech/progressive house) I tend to play at my gigs then check out this Spotify playlist. Oh, I also do regular music – wanna play with me?
