Who are you and what do you do?
Shin Tanaka, graffiti artist, character designer and paper toy creator. My works are based on street culture such as hiphop, graffiti and fashion.
What was your reason for visiting Stockholm, and what happened while you were here?
To draw graffiti in Östasiatiska museet for 5 days. I was drawing my works on the museum walls.
How did you like the room, and what do you think about the Creators Inn by Elvine concept?
The Creators Inn was so good! I had a wonderful time in the room. I really appreciate this opportunity! It’s so nice! I can spend time relaxing, it was like visiting a friend’s room.
Any tips and recommendations for future guests? Did you include anything on the map?
I post my name card on the wall.
What’s creativity to you?
To express what’s inside of me.
Anything else you want to add?
The room is so fresh! Thanks again! ;)
KIMONO FUSION
From the ultra traditional to the hyper modern
13th September 2009 to 24th January 2010the museum of far eastern antiquities opens in autumn 2009 with a japanese fashion show that starts with the kimono and in a playful way springs into various japanese subcultures and fashion trends of today. East meets west, old meets new, real meets fake.
The exhibition features exquisite vintage kimonos that puts dazzling textile techniques on display, mixed with creations by some of japan’s hottest young designers and artists – from takyua angel’s spectacular creatios to street-smart childish designs by shojono tomo. Handmade accessories for young geishas are shown side by side with the graffiti artist shin tanaka’s murals and hip hopish origami figures inspired by the elaborate patterns of ancient kimonos.
The exhibition is a joint arrangement with Rekostylisterna: Aia Jüdes and Sanna Gebeyehu.
