Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Lydia Kellam, I’m a Swedish/American currently living in Brooklyn, NY where I run the online magazine The Swede Beat, dedicated to contemporary Swedish culture. It’s an online magazine founded to bring attention and expertise to the creative industry of Sweden, and to deliver compelling content for people interested in music, art, film and fashion. The magazine showcases interesting perspectives on the creative and progressive cultural scene in Sweden. Alongside articles, interviews, downloads and links, each issue contains an image gallery presenting up-and-coming visual artists from Sweden.

This is what Creators Inn by Elvine is all about! Artists and producer duo Addeboy vs. Cliff lived and recorded in our Stockholm room at Hotel Scandic Malmen. They also managed to dj at the Creators Inn by Elvine party, and put together a special Creators Inn by Elvine mixtape for you to enjoy! Dean Mayo Davies (UK) stayed at Creators Inn by Elvine at Scandic Malmen in Stockholm. He told us he had a wonderful stay in Stockholm, was enchanted with the city of Stockholm and that he loved the records in the room.
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m a writer living in London, a contributor to magazines including Another Man, Vogue Hommes Japan, Rodeo Italy, Zoo Magazine and Dazed Digital.
What was your reason for visiting Stockholm, and what happened while you were here?
To see some exhibitions and get a sense of the city’s energy at the moment.
How did you like the room, and what do you think about the Creators Inn by Elvine concept?
Twin Peaks OST, Kraftwerk – The Man Machine, Smashing Pumpkins – 1979 / Ugly, Nirvana – Heart Shaped Box / Marigold, Dinosaur Jr. – You’re living all over me. The records that mean so much to me, all lined up…
What’s creativity to you?
Some kind of refusal – the best creativity comes from refusal of a framework, system, convention. A dissatisfaction however tiny, insignificant and trivial.
What’s next?
Everything. It’s waiting for us…

Shin Tanaka (JPN) stayed at Creators Inn by Elvine at Scandic Malmen while preparing his exhibition Kimono Fusion at Östasiatiska museet. Please note that the opening party will be held at Lilla hotellbaren, Scandic Malmen on September 11th, 18.00-21.00.
Who are you and what do you do?
Shin Tanaka, graffiti artist, character designer and paper toy creator. My works are based on street culture such as hiphop, graffiti and fashion.
What was your reason for visiting Stockholm, and what happened while you were here?
To draw graffiti in Östasiatiska museet for 5 days. I was drawing my works on the museum walls.
How did you like the room, and what do you think about the Creators Inn by Elvine concept?
The Creators Inn was so good! I had a wonderful time in the room. I really appreciate this opportunity! It’s so nice! I can spend time relaxing, it was like visiting a friend’s room.

Creators Inn by Elvine is financed by the Gothenburg based clothing brand Elvine. Check out Elvine’s September newsletter in order to get a free tee, or go straight to the web shop.

Patrik Axén (SE) is a film producer from Elvine’s hometown of Gothenburg. He has just started a master program in Nordic co-production of film in Stockholm, and since we love collaborations and co-productions we arranged so that he could stay at Creators Inn by Elvine.
Who are you and what do you do? Do you consider yourself creative and if so, in what way?
My name is Patrik Axén and I work as a film producer at a small production company named Stavro based in Gothenburg. There is a joke that the only creatives in Hollywood are the accountants, but I live in Sweden and yes, I do consider myself creative. Both in an artistic but also in a problem-solving kind of way.

Who are you and what do you do?
I am a Milan based freelance writer and consultant, and two years ago I started Apartamento magazine with two friends in Barcelona, beside opening a small design studio in Milan, SM.
Do you consider yourself creative and if so, in what way?
I think my role has more to do with creativity at large, without me being that creative but on the other side being capable to work with some of the most talented artist, editors, musicians, publishers,… out there.

On August 1th we opened Creators Inn by Elvine as the world’s first (free) hotel-in-hotel at Hotel Scandic Malmen. We never had an opening party so we thought it was time for a proper party to celebrate the event. On September 10th we invite you all to Lilla Hotellbaren (the hotel bar downstairs). Upcoming guests Addeboy vs. Cliff (seen above) will play live among other fun things. And, of course: It’s free!
Where: Lilla Hotellbaren, Scandic Malmen, Götgatan 49-51, Stockholm
When: Thursday September 10th, 19:00-21:00
Entrance: FREE
More info to follow, but make sure you mark your calenders straight away.
See you there!

In our Registration guidelines we write that “Foreign visitors are prioritized”. When opening the first Creators Inn by Elvine outside of our hometown of Gothenburg, we decided to change that to “Foreign visitors and creators from Gothenburg are prioritized” in order to support our local talents visiting the capital.
Fredrik Nyberg is one of those locals who got a chance to stay at Creators Inn by Elvine at Hotel Scandic Malmen in Stockholm. Even though he currently lives in Berlin he manages to produce one of the best clubs in Gothenburg. Read about that and his reason for visiting Stockholm below.
