New type of design hotel offers visiting creators free accommodation

Swedish fashion brand Elvine and design agency Next Century Modern have initiated the project Creators Inn by Elvine offering free short-term accommodation for visiting creators. The first rooms have been located in Gothenburg were both the companies are based.

– Beside the joy and gratefulness you get from the creators when you offer them free accommodation, their presence make Gothenburg a more interesting city, says Jesper Larsson, CEO of Next Century Modern, so it’s a great win-win situation.

Creators Inn by Elvine is furnished like a modern hotel. The rooms are located within walking distance from the city centre. Besides a double bed, a sofa and/or armchairs and bathroom with shower, a fully equipped kitchen is available for guests who like to cook their own food. The guests are also offered free wireless internet, towels, bathrobes, slippers and grooming products free of charge.

– We always listen to our guests and ask them what they liked or lacked, and then we change the rooms depending on their feedback. Creators Inn by Elvine is a constant work in progress, says Jesper.

CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) have been a buzz word in the corporate world for quite some time now. Too often this tend to result in nothing more than superficial window-dressing.

– With Creators Inn by Elvine we tried to add some creativity to the equation, labeling what we do as CSR - Creative Social Responsibility. Elvine also has an internal saying: “Elvine is your friend” regarding how they should act as a brand, so it fit right in, Jesper continues.

So far guests at Creators Inn by Elvine have included: soul musician Jomo (SE), garage band The Vibrarians (US), Niklas Åström (SE) guitarist in the band EF, artist Momus (UK), fashion designer Sara Forsberg (SE), artist Olof Olsson (SE/DK), lesbian electro MC/JD duo Fagget Fairys (DK), japanese artist Mako Ishizuka (JPN) among others.

Creators Inn by Elvine are currently looking into the possibilities of expanding to other European cities during 2009.
